For years after making a large number of "mods" to Zen Cart, a Open Source e-commerce platform,
a customer asked us to refactor their entire system. Needed improvements were
in the area of performance,
SEO and adoption of third-party shipping quotation services. Our customer needed to scale
their e-commerce Web site to service a growing number
of unique visitors (over 400K strong) and rely increasingly on organic search traffic by
optimizing their 11,000 products for major search engines.
Our challenge: tune Zen Cart for peak performance,
incorporate SEO to Zen Cart catalog pages, and consume third-party shipping quotation services.
