• Dealing with Windows Brain Dead File Browser / Explorer

I cannot stand Vista ’s file browser / explorer when it comes to managing files and directories. Thankfully, I have found a great new tool called WinDirStat that allows me to visualize which culprits — aka large files — are eating my disk space and makes it easy for me to get rid them. Here is a screen shot of how this program looks:

In this screenshot, you will notice the big green block. If I click on that it highlights the associated file that takes up the large space and deleting is as simple as clicking the delete button. It calls the graphical view as treemap and this really helps me quickly find the biggest files — typically some downloaded video or ISO files — and get rid of them quick.
